risk assessment
On a simple level, risk assessment is having a highly trained professional examine the creative before production and, based on their experience, draw up a written document detailing anything that could pose a potential risk. In the fast-paced world of stunt and physical gameshows, having an experienced professional examine every aspect of your creative will help ensure the safety of both cast and crew. At Arête we take risk assessment one step farther and will work with your producers to draw up a mitigation plan for each and every instance of potential danger we find, farther decreasing the chances of injury or accidents.
Production insurance companies and legal departments will both love that you have a dedicated, written analysis of not just the risks, but also the best ways to minimize them before anyone sets foot on-set.
safety supervision
Safety supervision differs from risk assessment in that a supervisor is on-set for the entirety of production and exists as a standalone position dedicated to ensuring that all OSHA and IATSE standards are honored by the crew. A safety supervisor will monitor the cast and crews activity and work to keep everyone as safe as possible at all times.
Our Safety Supervisors can also be tasked with more direct involvement, as in the case of Knife or Death (History) where our safety supervisor wrote and ran the on-set protocols for how and when contestants could safely use their swords, modeling the system after established gun range protocols and keeping the set injury-free for both seasons.
